Do I have to brown my pork chops before I put them in the crock pot?

Browning caramelizes the meat, giving it better flavor. Add a bit of water to the skillet afterwards and add that to your crock, scraping the skillet to get as much caramelized meat as you can. If you like crisp onions that is about when you should add them.
