I have euglena in agar. how does the agar effect the euglena, & how do i get the euglena out of this state???

I recieved euglena in agar. BEfore i had normal euglena in liquid, but never got the chance to observe it b/c someone (not me) spilled them. So i dont Know if the euglena in water looks diferent than the euglena in AGAR. Does the AGAR make the euglena stay still? What exactly does the agar do to the euglena and how do I return all of the euglena to normal? They are usually oblong and moving but every time i observe thme they are circular and still, tho few have been normal. I need to see euglena normally before i can change its envoronment. I put the euglena in distilled water b/c the instruction manual i got w/ the book instructed me to do so. I know they cannot be dead but it wud seem they are the way they look. Pleazz help, thank you.
