How can I catch up and learn the basic about Formula one racing?

I know I grew up in Japan and have heard of Suzuka, everyone in Japan have heard of it. But since younger age, I've moved to the US, I never got to have a chance to keep up with Formula one as most Americans were not into it(I think they like Indy 500, and NASCAR instead), just like Football (soccer) vs AMERICAN football. To catch up, and learn what F1 race is all about not so much in depth but overview, what is a good place to start?
