Do a lot of straight men dress badly because they're afraid people will think they're gay?

A lot of guys won't wear fitted clothes, suede, leather, colour, shoes that aren't runners or steel toes, non-baseball caps, scarves, on-down shirts etc. because these are often thought of as gay. It's quite shocking how good men (as well as women) used to look in old photos when they actually put some thought into what they wore. Do guys fear that women would objectivity their bodies as they objectify those of women? Do they ume that women don't care how men look?
